Thirty Blog Posts in 30 Days: Day 1

My bags are packed and I am ready to go!

Thirty blog posts in thirty days.  That was the challenge.  Anything that I want to write. No issue.  Just write something for everyday that K is at camp and then keep writing.

K left for 4 weeks of overnight camp this morning.  To help me get through this seemingly unimaginable amputation in my soul (a bit dramatic, it’s true) my yoga instructor suggested that I come up with a series of challenges to help me concentrate on something other than missing K and to also chronicle my feelings about having her gone for a month.

So here it is: 30 blog posts in 30 days.  No other goals or declarations need be made today.  I will concentrate on actually feeling what I am feeling as opposed to covering it up with a Xanax and/or alcohol.  I am feeling scared and a bit worried for K.  Take one look at the above photo.  It’s clear, K is more or less excited to start her latest adventure.  All I can say is “Good job Mom!”  You have done your job well–she is confident, happy, secure and knows that she is loved.  What else can we ask for?

Come, stop your crying, it’ll be all right

Just take my hand, hold it tight
I will protect you from all around you
I will be here, don’t you cry

For one so small, you seem so strong
My arms will hold you, keep you safe and warm
This bond between us can’t be broken
I will be here, don’t you cry…

And you’ll be in my heart always
