It’s amazing how in such a short time, some of the smallest details and our interactions with Kayla have changed. Take her simple and straightforward and regular before bedtime book, Goodnight Moon. Not long ago, maybe 6-7 months, we’d just read it to her and Kayla’s most significant involvement was turning the pages.
A few months later, when you’d ask her where the red balloon was, she could point to it. And after this winter, she could point unprompted to the fireplace and proclaim, “hot.”
Now, almost 20 months old, she not only points out the balloon, the cow, the kittens, the mittens, the house, the mouse, the comb, the brush and the quiet old lady whispering hush…she waves goodnight to them as we turn the pages.
